First time here. Great service. Sat at the bar and Emma has only been here 2 weeks but knows how to take care of customers. She was very attentive even though she had several customers and making drinks for other waiters. I'm from Florida and have access to good seafood all the time. 4 Bells rivals all my Florida places. Raw oysters were excellent. Scallops were prepared perfectly and laid out on a very unique sweet potato hash. Brussels sprouts were crispy and had an excellent flavor. I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Hey, they even had grits on the menu. What restaurant in the great white north has grits!!! Made a southern boy feel right at home. Eat here. You won't regret it.
Date night on a Tuesday night is the place to go to. Happy hour from 6-9 $1 oysters they were amazing it's basically their choice on which variety you get. We ate 60 of them, no I'm not lying. The Bartenders were blown away from two people eating that many lol. The blonde haired male shucker was a freeking mother shucker. His skills were on point, no shells. I've ate at a lot of oyster spots and his skills are amazing. Check out their Facebook event for the Tuesday specials. I didn't see them on their website. Date night also has a choice of course meals.
My friend and I immediately noticed how beautiful the restaurant was. We were happy to know that we arrived during happy hour! We opted out of drinks and chose to start with the calamari and mussels. Both were on the happy hour menu for about $9. The calamari was very good, but slightly over seasoned. Mussels are just not my thing. I tried, but then decided to let my friend eat those. How does someone get full off mussels?? I couldn't decide on what to eat so I went with the lobster salad. Hmmm perhaps I should have tried another dish. It was just ok. My friend chose the scallop dish. She enjoyed the dish, but at the end of the meal we both decided we were still hungry. It's rare that we are still hungry after appetizers and a meal. The server brought us dessert menus and we decided to go for it. We asked the server for his recommendations and decided to go with the pineapple upside down and strawberry shortcake. Both were good! Dessert was definitely the most memorable. Overall 4 out of 5 stars
I have been here for the boil fest, and brunch Finally made it for dinner. We were greeted at the door by two friendly hosts. Our waiter was very nice and full of knowledge about the menu. We started out with yummy drinks. The drinks were so yummy, we plan to come back just for them. My husband had the burger special. My one of my friends had the steak. And the other had the fried chicken and collard greens. I had the calamari and roasted cauliflower. I was able to taste the greens. The were delicious! My husband said the burger was pretty good. The chicken and steak got great reviews. The calamari was ok. Not a very big portion. The roasted cauliflower was super bland. The ambiance, service and drinks were great. I would make a different meal choice next time. I would definitely recommend giving 4Bells if you haven't been here before.
We've been here twice this month and this review attempts to recall the overall experience. First was another stop on the Drinking Walking Tour with Patrick, Susan and Mike. Dranks only, sat on the rooftop. We were greeted by the hostess and happily got ourselves upstairs to enjoy the park views. We not only had a very attentive server but also good support from other members of the staff. Our water glasses were kept full, our drink orders appeared promptly and everyone was friendly. (Pro Tip: Always order the Gin & Tonic if you are so inclined. I don't like G&Ts, but I love them here!) A week later The Hubster and I came in for dinner. We made reservations, though it didn't seem very busy when we came in. We sat at the Raw Bar / Chef's table and waited... and waited... and waited. Seriously, like 20+ minutes went by without so much as a glass of water. The Executive Chef, who had been very friendly and chatty, remedied the situation and sent some complimentary oysters to the table with his sincere apologies for the service. He must have hit a hidden button, as a manager-type showed up moments later and was quite apologetic. In fact, we saw this gentleman more frequently than whoever the server that was assigned to us. (Yes, I could call her out. However, I'm sure her identity is known by those that care about such things AND worry about the bottom line.) In short order the kitchen crew learned that The Hubster worked here when it was Joe's Garage. They shared a number of stories and were impressed by how much changed from the original restaurant and kitchen configuration. That opened up all sorts of fun banter, which was a vast improvement over the no-show server. I started the meal with fried smelt because this gal from Michigan can never say no to smelt. I don't recall even offering a bite to my husband, though he kept himself busy with the crab cake appetizer. For dinner he had the 4 Bells Boil (he feels the same way about crawfish that I do about smelt) and I enjoyed the scallops. The food is, was and will likely always be the jewel in the crown. Like most places, the service is best when you plant yourself in front of people that are passionate about customer service.
LISTEN TO ME When the winner of cochon555 adds PORCHETTA that has been roasted for 12 hours to his BRUNCH menu, you know you need to order it.... This slow-roasted, crispy-skinned porchetta is a savory, fatty, mouthwatering, moist, boneless pork roast with a crispy crust. One bite and you are in heaven. The New Orleans-themed brunch menu is to die for, offering a great variety of flavors and textures that stimulate all your senses and transport you to the French Quarter!
The atmosphere here is the best. Sitting right in between the basilica and Loring park the views are great. I've only been here once to eat and had the southern fried chicken with a side of mustard greens. Being from Memphis I was skeptical it would be anything close to southern but was completely shocked it was actually pretty spot on. Fried chicken was crispy while still juicy on the inside and the greens were above average I'd say not award winning but I'll definitely order them again. Oh and you get a delicious biscuit with your chicken Mmmm. Two sauces came with the chicken a honey based sauce which I enjoyed and the other was not rememberable. They have a good selection of drinks my favorite being the blood orange IPA. Though drink service was slow for the restaurant not to have been busy. Ordered the lemon cheesecake for dessert. Not bad it was refreshing and not overly sweet. Overall great experience they have three patios one being a rooftop so if the weathers nice this is the place to be!
Came for a private event earlier this month and was very happy with the space and the food. They have a few rooms of various sizes that you be used to host private events, and we happened to be on the roof level. While the room is enclosed, it does lead to the outside balcony area. The room also supports A/V for anyone looking to use those features. A brunch buffet was set up with some really tasty options... shrimp and grits, biscuits, frittata, fried chicken, sausage, cheesy potatoes, cookies, coffee, cupcakes and more. Also, included with the buffet was one mimosa per person. Personally I found them to be small and a bit sour... wasn't a fan, but it was a good deal. The staff was kind and helpful. Also, they did a good job keeping the tabs straight (from what I could tell). Based on this experience I would definitely return for dinner, brunch, etc.
So I haven't been here in a while and decided to come down for dinner with a buddy. Was surprised to find out that their mainstay southern food and amazing fried chicken isn't a part of the restaurant menu (at least the downstairs main dining room that is-you can still get it upstairs). Instead they've evolved into a steak and (mostly) seafood joint advertising that they've got the "freshest seafood in the TC" (apparently flown in daily). We tried a bunch of food starting with the Delicious peel and eat shrimp-4 large shrimp-so a bit pricey, but really good. We also enjoyed the Crab cake with spicy jalapeño tartar sauce-so good. The Pull apart garlic bread was 4 soft rolls bathed in garlic butter. For entries we had Sword fish with pistachio mole (superb) and Halibut that was perfectly cooked. The salads were also fresh and good and I was pleased with the food and the service. For the most part the changes are great and it was a great evening.
